He is mentioned in a charter in. the Register of the Diocese of Aberdeen, of date 1469. He is also mentioned by Stodart in the second volume of his Scottish Arms. In 1479, there is a precept to William Lethe of Barnes and Alexander Abercromby, Baillies of the Earl of Mar, to grant infeftment on the lands of Johnstown. In 1478, there is a sasine on the lands of Auchinschogyl, of which William Leith of Barnes is a witness.4
