He was the ancestor of the Boyds of Pitcon. He had a charter of the lands of Linn, a property in the parish of Dairy, Ayrshire, wherein he is designed 'brothergerman to Robert Boyd in Kilmarnock, in May 1532'. He died 1547. By his will, dated 8 November 1547, and confirmed at Glasgow 11 April 1548, he directs his body to be interred in the family burialground at Kilmarnock, and appoints John Fernlye [Fairlie] of that Ilk, Thomas Boyd, his son, and Robert, Lord Boyd, executors.7
