| He was in 1681 accused of two sexual relationships, one with Agate who was a servant at the vicar's house, the other with ("omløbende quindfolck") Malena Ernstdatter. According to Malena, Bottel was the father of her child. Bottel escaped to Bergen where he was later imprisoned. Later he got married and became a sailor. In 1695 it is said he had been away in 11 years, and his wife last had heard from him in 1688 when he sent a letter from London.7 | ||
