He witnessed a charter of his grandfather Cuthbert 23 May 1540, and under the designation of Robert Cunynghame of Davidstoun had, together with his wife Mariota, a charter of the lands of Montgrenane 12 May 1546. He was minister of the Priory of Faill or Failford in Ayrshire, and Provincial of the Order of the Holy Trinity.4
