| He became an apprentice of his father 28 February 1735. When his father died, the guild decided for him to continue as an apprentice of his father's cousin, Herman Gewerdt. He became a citizen of Bergen 2 March 1752 as a baker. His business didn't go well. He had to give up 7 August 1755. He disappeared, and his family did not know where he was. His properties was valued 732 riksdaler, 3 ort and 14 skilling, while the debt was almost twice as much: 1430 riksdaler, 5 ort, 7 skilling. He later reappeared, but did not build up a new business. His relative, Hans Kleinow Martens, who had bought his father's bakery in 1753, arranged and paid for his funeral.7 | ||
